C-Section is historically thought to be named for Julias Caesar, who was reportedly cut from the womb of his mother. Caesarean sections are preformed for a variety of reasons. Some of these are: disproportion of the baby's head size to the mother's pelvis, abnormal presentation, crises (such as placenta previa), active genital herpes in the mother, and repeat C-sections. Modern techniques make it possible for some mothers to have normal vaginal deliveries even though they have had a previous C-section.
