This illustration shows an abnormal pattern of walking (gait). A spastic gait is caused by muscle spasms and nerve damage, usually caused by a specific (focal) neurological condition (such as brain abscess, brain tumor, head trauma, multiple sclerosis, or stroke). The person must raise the pelvis to move the affected leg, and the toes usually drag on the ground.
