Fingernail Abscess Draining

First, soak the affected finger in hot water with a squirt of disinfectant for 30 minutes.

To drain the collection of pus in the paronychia, slide the tip of a scalpel blade, sharp narrow knife edge, or the disinfected tine of a metal fork, underneath the cuticle, holding the blade flat against the nail. This will puncture the pocket and allow drainage.
