Panniculitis is inflammation in the fatty layer under the skin of the front of the abdomen. This individual has panniculitits caused by pancreatitis. It is thought that the release of enzymes from the inflamed pancreas may result in inflammation in the subcutaneous fat of the abdominal wall. The area is hot and tender.
