Pityriasis rubra pilaris is an uncommon skin condition characterized by salmon-colored patches with scaling (palmoplantar keratoderma). Hair follicles with keratin plugging is considered a characteristic sign. Typically the follicle is surrounded with a characteristic orange-red color.
