ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³Arrowroot³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ (Maranta arundinacea) native to the Americas and the West Indies, it is used as a deulcent and is superior nutritive food for children and invalids as it is easy to take and is pleasant tasting. It contains about 82 percent starch. Boil about 1 tablespoon arrowroot in 2 cups of milk or water and season to taste with lemon juice to make a tasty jelly, or else boil 1 tablespoon in 2 cups fruit juice. It was used by the American Indians to heal wounds from poisoned arrows, thus its name.
