ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³Cinnamon ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ (Cinnamon zeylanicum) is a native of Ceylon. This spice was used in ancient Egypt for embalming and magic. The oil, distilled from the chip, is said to be medicinal and is used as an aromatic, stimulant* and carminative. Cinnamon cordial is used for the stomache, for Diarrhea*, for nausea, and to check vomiting. This spice was so highly prized that fortunes were made and lost and empires were built around its import and export. It was once more valuable than gold and was used as a flavor and an aphrodisiac* in medieval Europe. Later it was one of the most profitable spices in the Dutch East India Company trade. In England it is known as oil of cassia. Its is also used in incense. According to some reports, the oil and incense* is reported to act as a sexual stimulant to some females.
