Aloysia Triphylla - Lemon Verbena



Characteristics: Lemon-scented tender shrub grows up to 10 feet high. Whorls of leaves along branches and small, white or violet flowers.

Growing Information: Plant in full sun in cool climates or light shade in warm climates and loose, well-drained but rich soil. Can be grown in a pot. Fertilize once a month.

In cool climates, bring it in to a cool, bright location indoors. If leaves drop, keep soil on the dry side until they begin to grow again.

Propagation: Take cuttings of firm shoots in summer.

Possible Problems: Whiteflies, aphids, and spider mites.

Harvesting and Using: Use leaves fresh or dried in teas, or add them to dressings, fruit salads, and drinks. Remove stiff leaves before serving.
