Question: Why can't I find the article I'm looking for in MEDLINEplus?

Answer:

  • MEDLINEplus is not a database of references to journal articles.

  • To locate information about journal articles:

    • search the full MEDLINE database for references to journal articles.

      • Follow the link to MEDLINE from the Other Resources page; you will find a link back to the Other Resources page just below the header of every MEDLINEplus page.

      • The system used to search MEDLINE is called PubMed.

  • Use the "preformatted" MEDLINE searches on the MEDLINEplus health topic pages.

    • These "preformatted" searches are not meant to be comprehensive in nature, but rather are meant to focus on a particular condition within a specified time frame.
