Crunch Pak Apples Recalled

WENATCHEE, Wash., Mar 26, 2001 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Fresh Products Northwest LLC has recalled its "Crunch Pak" fresh sliced apples because of possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

The apples were distributed in 17 states: Arizona, California, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.

The possible contamination was discovered during routine analysis of samples by the company.

No illnesses have been reported as a result of consumption of the apples.

The recalled apples are packaged in 2-, 6 and 6.75-ounce, and 1-, 3- and 30-pound poly bags and shipping boxes. The affected apples have a use by date of March 21 through April 11.
