All you have to do is bleed the air out of the fuel system. After you put fuel in the tank, loosen the fuel line going to the number one injector and start cranking the engine. when all of the air is out tighten it back up and repeat on the next cylinder. By the time you get 2 injectors bled, the engine should start but skip and run very rough. Just keep bleeding all of the injectors and when the last one is bled the engine will be running fine. '98 and newer Dodge trucks with the 24 Valve Cummins engine have self bleeding injectors. Just turn the key switch on for a few minutes and the electric fuel pump does all the work for you. If the engine starts rough, it will smooth up after a few minutes of running. Possum ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor ---------------------~--> Small business owners... I found that all I have to do is refill the tank and then turn the key "on". Typically you'll hear a hissing noise for about 2-3 seconds as the fuel pump builds up pressure. After I replaced the fuel pump, it runs continuesly when the key is turned to "on". Difference between "on" and "start". Don't try starting it yet. Instead, keep turning the key on and off for about a minute. This will help "prime" the engine. Of course my truck engine is an "Electro-Inject" which is a carburated fuel injection. Since I have replaced the fuel pump, it runs continuesly when the key is "on". Since then, I have had no problem what so ever in starting it after running it dry. If we let the truck sit longer than a week, we had to have one man crank the motor and the other push the valve stem with a pencil until fuel came out. Then, the truck would start. Christopher A.
