From pheadoux@usit.net Sat Aug 04 12:51:52 2001 To: Subject: [misc_survivalism_moderated] fish and other food around water From: "Birdwalk Farms" Date: Sat, 4 Aug 2001 13:51:52 -0500 -------- feed the bug to the bird - the bird to the cat - use the cat gut for fishing line - feed the fish to the dog - or was that just swallow a spider? where's there's water there's food - crawfish - frogs - snakes - turtles - etc. then the plant life around water - the lowly cattail itself - the tubers, shoots, 'tails' green and pollen flour from the the tails when in bloom. then the usefulness of the plant for making things - baskets ( not for pretty but for gathering - baskets for fish traps - etc ) arrowana, Jerusalem artichoke, and many more plants are edible. the foxfire series of books have good info for living off the land as do others.
