Overview   

Cystic hygroma

Definition:

A thin-walled sac-like lymphatic structure filled with lymph. Cystic hygromas occur most commonly in the head and neck area and may feel like a water-filled balloon and appear as a soft bulge beneath the skin. Cystic hygromas may involve an extensive area. They are removed by surgery.
