Definition:
Obstruction of the hepatic vein, the vein from the liver, may result from masses pressing on the vessel (tumor) or thrombus (clot) formation within the vessel. This results in obstruction of blood flowing out of the liver and returning to the heart. Varying degrees of liver damage may result.
