Pseudo hypoparathyroidism

Definition:

A hereditary condition which clinically resembles hypoparathyroidism but is caused by a lack of response to parathyroid hormone rather than a deficiency of the hormone. In true hypoparathyroidism there is deficient hormone. Symptoms include muscle cramps and spasms, convulsion, a short stocky build, an unusual facial appearance and occasional mental retardation.
