Prevention:
Prophylaxis (preventive) therapy is recommended for AIDS
patients and some other high-risk persons. Several treatment
options are available. The most effective drug is trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole.
Other options include dapsone, atovaquone, and aerosolized
pentamidine.
