Limb-girdle muscular dystrophy
Definition:
An inherited type of muscular dystrophy that affects the muscles of the shoulder girdle and the hips. The disease is progressive and may involve other muscles over a period of time. Limb-girdle muscular dystrophy is normally passed on as an autosomal recessive trait although a dominant form has been reported.
