Treatment:

There is no known effective treatment. Treatment is supportive and based on the control of symptoms.

Expectations (prognosis):

The disorder is generally progressive. It may not be specifically diagnosed in some cases until after death.

Complications:

• lobar intracerebral hemorrhage, repeated episodes
• stroke
• dementia
• hydrocephalus
