Arterial insufficiency
Definition:
An inadequate blood flow through arteries. Involvement of the arteries of the brain can cause symptoms of stroke. The specific symptoms can indicate, to some extent, which artery is involved. Anterior inferior cerebellar artery syndrome involves symptoms of inflammation or occlusion of the anterior inferior cerebellar artery (in the brain). Basilar insufficiency involves one of the branches of the carotid artery. It branches off to become the posterior cerebral arteries.
