Overview   

Osteitis fibrosa

Definition:

A condition resulting from excess production of thyroid hormone. It is characterized by softening of bones, kidney stones, elevation of calcium, and lowering of phosphorus in the blood. Normal bone is replaced by lumps (cysts). Tumors may develop.
