Proctitis - streptococcal

Treatment:
The infection is treated with antibiotics given by mouth for 10 days, most often oral penicillin, erythromycin, or a cephalosporin. Topical treatment with mupirocin may be used in conjunction with oral antibiotics but should not be used as the sole treatment.
Expectations (prognosis):
Rapid recovery is expected with antibiotic treatment.
