Dermatis herpetiformis
Definition:
A chronic inflammation manifested by a group of red lesions spreading from the center outward, causing intense itching and burning. This can be successfully treated by sulfa-based antibiotics. They may be associated with occult (hidden) malignancy in an older patient. It may also be associated with small bowel mucosal abnormalities and malabsorption such as celiac disease.
