Rett's disorder
Treatment:
Treatment is geared toward symptom relief. Physiotherapy is aimed at muscular dysfunction; medication is used to control seizures. Behavior therapy is used to control respiratory difficulties and teach self coping mechanisms.
Expectations (prognosis):
This disorder is progressive; the child will continue to worsen.
Complications:
The girl can become totally unable to care for herself.
