Information:
Definition: Part of the immune system, this is a one-celled organism (macrophage) found in connective tissues that ingests foreign antigens. They are found in many organs, including the spleen, lymph nodes, alveoli, and tonsils. In the liver they are called Kupffer cells. They also exist in the brain, serous cavities, breast tissue, and in the placenta.
