The medical history will be obtained and a physical examination performed.

Medical history questions documenting claw hand in detail may include:

  • time pattern
    • When did you first notice the abnormal hand shape?
    • Is it getting worse?

  • location
    • Does it affect both hands?

  • other
    • Do other symptoms occur at the same time?

The physical examination may include extra attention to examination of the hands (and feet).

After seeing your health care provider:
You may want to add a diagnosis related to claw hand to your personal medical record.
