• you notice a ridge along the forehead of your child.

What to expect at your health care provider's office:

The medical history will be obtained and a physical examination performed.

Medical history questions documenting metopic ridge in detail may include:

• When did you first notice this?
• Are there any other ridged sutures?
• Does the child have any other symptoms?

Diagnostic tests may include:

• skull X-ray
• head CT (possible)

After seeing your health care provider:
You may want to add a diagnosis related to a metopic ridge to your personal medical record.
