Tuberculin tine test

Alternative names:

TB tine

Normal values:

Little or no inflammation would appear after the injection if your immune system is healthy.

What abnormal results mean:

An inflammation zone indicates the immune system recognizes the antigen, and your body has seen the tuberculosis antigen at some point in your life. A positive TB tine test does not mean that you have active tuberculosis, only that your body has been exposed at some point. After exposure all future TB tine tests will be positive.

If you have a positive TB tine test, chest X-rays will be taken to evaluate if you have active tuberculosis or not. Regular chest X-rays should be taken if you are positive to ensure that the disease has not become active.
