Anti-DNase B

Normal values:

A "negative" test is normal.

  • adults: less than 85 Todd units/ml
  • school-age children: less than 170 Todd units/ml
  • preschool children: less than 60 Todd units/ml

Note: Todd units/ml = Todd units per milliliter

What abnormal results mean:

Approximately 80% of people with rheumatic fever have elevated DNase B levels. Approximately 75% of people with post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis after "strep throat," and about 60% of people with post-streptococcal GN after streptococcal skin infections, have elevated DNase B levels.

Note: A "positive" test is abnormal.
