CT scan

Overview   Risks   Results

Orbit CT scan

Alternative names:

CT scan - orbital

What the risks are:

The amount of radiation in a CT scan is minimal; however, there may be some concern for nursing or pregnant women because fetuses and breast-fed infants are more susceptible to the effects of radiation directed upon the mother. Most often, the benefits of the scan outweigh the risk to the fetus.

Special considerations:

The contrast dye may cause adverse reactions in some patients. These reactions may include headache, nausea, and vomiting.
