Primary or idiopathic intestinal pseudo-obstruction

Treatment:

Nasogastric suction (placement of a tube through the nose and into the stomach; the tube is then attached to suction) is used to decompress the bowel. Intravenous fluids will replace fluids lost from vomiting. Special diets are usually ineffective.

The disease may be recurrent.
