Cranial mononeuropathy III; Diabetic type
Treatment:
Some cases may recover without treatment.
Close control of blood sugar levels in diabetics may be of benefit.
Surgery may be needed to correct eye lid drooping or dysconjugate gaze.
Expectations (prognosis):
The outcome varies. Most cranial nerve dysfunctions respond to treatment, and a few cases result in some type of permanent loss.
Complications:
Calling your health care provider:
Call your health care provider if double vision is present and not relieved in a few minutes, especially if eye lid drooping is also present.
