Drug-induced tremor
Alternative names:
tremor - drug induced
Treatment:
Treatment may not be required if the tremors are mild and do not interfere with daily activity.
The health care provider may assess medicines and weigh the benefit of the medicine against the severity of the tremors produced. If the medication is not essential, it may be stopped. If the medication is essential, the dosage may be adjusted or another similar medication may be tried.
Expectations (prognosis):
Drug-induced tremor is usually not dangerous and does not indicate that a dangerous condition may develop. It may be a nuisance and interfere with activities such as writing. Change in medications usually stops the tremor. Do not change medications without discussing the matter with your prescribing health care provider.
Complications:
- interference with normal activities
Calling your health care provider:
Call your health care provider if taking a medication and tremors develop which interfere with activity or which are accompanied by other symptoms.
