Treatment:

Surgical bypass of the obstructing segment of the duodenum is the usual treatment for this disorder.

Expectations (prognosis):

The outcome is expected to be good with treatment.

Complications:

• peptic ulcer
• perforation (hole) of the intestine due to obstruction
• peritonitis
