Hypothalamic tumor

Definition:

A tumor or mass in the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is a region of the brain located behind the eyes and beneath the thalamus. The hypothalamus is responsible for the sympathetic response of internal organ systems. For instance, under excitation, the hypothalamus sends signals to increase heart rate, increase breathing, increase blood flow, and dilate pupils.
