Subdural effusion

Symptoms:

  • fontanelles - bulging
  • sutures - separated
  • increased head circumference
  • fever, persistent
  • vomiting
  • seizures

Signs and tests:

There is often a history of recent meningitis.

Physical examination may show abnormal transillumination of the skull (when a light is shined against the skull, it may show signs of excessive fluid).
