Small intestine contrast injection

Overview   Risks   Results

Enteroclysis

What the risks are:

There is exposure to radiation. The radiation exposure may be more than for many other types of X-rays because of the length of time needed for the fluoroscopic examination.

Special considerations:

This test may not be able to evaluate portions of the intestines because of the catheter position or overlapping by contrast-filled intestines. An alternative may be an abdominal CT scan.
