McCune-Albright syndrome

Alternative names:

Albright syndrome; osteitis fibrosa cystica; polyostotic fibrous dysplasia

Symptoms:

• cafe-au-lait spots
• patchy skin pigmentation
• pigmentation over the spine
• vaginal bleeding at a very early age
• premature puberty
  • early breast development
  • early pubic and axillary hair development

• increased incidence of broken bones (occasional)

Signs and tests:

Physical examination may also show signs of:

• hyperthyroidism (occasional)
• adrenal abnormalities (occasional)
• acromegaly (occasional)
