Treatment:
The goal of treatment is to eradicate the infection. Unfortunately, tuberculosis is a difficult microorganism to eradicate. Therefore, medications must be taken consistently over time, often 6 months to one year of continuous treatment. Antituberculosis medications include: - INH

- rifampin
- streptomycin
- rifabutin
- ethambutol
Expectations (prognosis):
Recovery with treatment is expected. Scarring is typical.

Call your health care provider if your child appears to have an infection in his or her neck or any other symptoms of this disorder. If your child has had a known exposure to cows, or unpasteurized milk or milk products, be sure to mention this to your health care provider.
